I did not finish this, read 80% & that was a struggle . It was very repetitive, same thoughts , same dialoge had me reading 2 pages & saying we've been here thought this done this. Bought because favorably reviewed. If you want to read something that moves along, look for something else, this really drraaggs......

Good action series

I would say this was more of an action series then a romance. Yes there was love at first sight,but it was more about the trouble they get into and how they need to get out of it. I also had a hard time about the age difference. She was younger than his daughter....yuck! They kept referencing the age difference, which didn't help. She acted to immature. I can't believe that wouldn't have been a turn off for John. My guess...she had daddy issues and he had daughter issues, too weird.

Was a little slow to start so I wasn't sure about it, but I kept reading and fell in love with these characters. So good. It hit so many emotions and I found myself laughing out loud. I love when a book captivates me like that.

A MUST for Boyzone and Ronan fans!

This is a great book (co-authored by the man who wrote "Westlife On Tour'). It chronicles Ronan Keating's early life, his entry into the band Boyzone, and the beginnings of his solo career. There are lots of great stories about life on the road, how he met and wed his wife, how life changed after the birth of his son, how he came to Los Angeles and worked on his solo album. and there are great insights into the other members of Boyzone, the British pop group he sang with for nearly 7 years. It is a definite must for fans, and a great book for those into good pop music in general. I highly recommend it!

What an amazing young man

I am not much of a reader, yet when I was given this book as a gift from a friend who visited the UK, I just could not put it down. I found it to be so interesting, so real and honest. I am a Die Hard Ronan Keating fan and after reading the book I felt as if I knew him and his family. Its obvious his up bringing has a lot to do with his grounding as a good person, well thats my opinion. I love the stories about his mother. He is every mothers dream for a son. I'm sure Ireland is proud to have him.The bit about the birth of Jack is just so awesome.I love the way he took us gradually into the depths of his private life,from the childhood to Boyzone to Husband to dad and then an 'Amazing Young Man' a man with a talent for writing as well,and a man who made it without compromising. I love the part about all the mischief about Boyzone. What more can I say YOU GO RONAN!!!!!!! Can't wait for the 31st Dec when he will be in South Africa. I hope I get to meet him!!!!! Sorry i know you said focus on the book's content, I just had to say that....

i have used this book twice for the same class and it was the one that was used for the test in the class and is very hard to come by.glad i got it so cheap because the bookstore at school charges almost $200 for a copy of it.

This invaluable guide to the 96 pieces explains Bach's various purposes in compiling the music, describes the rich traditions on which he drew and provides commentaries for each prelude and fugue. In his text, David Ledbetter addresses the focal points mentioned by Bach in his original 1722 title page. Drawing on Bach literature over the past three hundred years, he explores German traditions of composition types and Bach's instruments and innovations in keyboard technique in the general context of early eighteenth-century developments; reviews instructive and theoretical literature relating to keyboard temperaments from 1680 to 1750; and discusses Bach's pedagogical intent when composing 'Well-tempered Clavier'. Ledbetter's commentaries on individual preludes and fugues equip readers with the concepts necessary to make their own assessment and include information about the sources when details of notation, ornaments and fingerings have a bearing on performance. David Ledbetter studied music at the universities of Dublin and Oxford, and specialised in the harpsichord and early keyboard instruments at the Staatliche Hochschule fur Musik, Freiburg. He was Senior Lecturer at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester. Among his publications are 'Harpsichord and Lute Music in 17th-Century France' (1987) and 'Continuo Playing According to Handel' (1990).

An enjoyable read that does require a decent amount of musical knowledge to fully appreciate (I wouldn't recommend it for anyone that lacks musical training). This book was helpful for better understanding the musical culture surrounding the creation of the Well Tempered Clavier. For instance, the book discusses previous works that attempted to use most, or all, the musical keys (and why), and relates various preludes and fugues of Bach's WTC to other fugues and works of other composers. The book discusses the various tuning systems in use at the time, and what Bach may have used (suggesting Bach favored a form of well-temperament at the time of WTC1, and perhaps equal temperament by WTC2). The book also discusses Bach's teaching program and pedagogical aims. The second half of the book gives an indepth look at each individual prelude and fugue - very useful for understanding the pieces and how one might attempt to realize them at the keyboard.

For the Bach-Lover

Purchased this as a gift for a Bachophile friend, who reports that is the best work on the subject of "the 48" and vastly informative and interesting. This is obviously a book for those who have some knowledge of musical theory, and know and play this work, to add to their delectation. Bach rules!
