Very enlightening

My only experience with autism is from what I've seen on TV and movies. Ms Jones does a superb job of explaining to the layman what everyone should know about people with autism. I recommend this book to all teachers so they not only have a better understanding of children in their classroom with autism, but a better understanding of how children treat each other and children of autism. It should be in every classroom around the world. I highly recommend everyone read this very enlightening and sometimes profound book.

Not easy to pin down... and that's good

When I first approached No You Don't, I wasn't sure what to expect. I've read a number of autism memoirs, novels about us, and monographs that purported to tell "the story" of our condition, both as research for my own books and as a way of attempting to understand myself and my relationship to society as a whole. In every case, I have found other autism books to be missing some key element of the discussion, either because they try too hard to generalize from a few anecdotes to an entire population or because they reinforce the just-so stories that explain away the diversity of Autistic experience by reinforcing stereotypes about us.

No You Don't cleverly avoids all of those things, and it does so without reveling in its own cleverness. Ms. Jones's series of essays are nuanced and detailed, and she is careful to highlight the ways in which her experience both does and does not reflect the conditions that other Autistics face. She discusses common problems without sweeping generalizations, confronts specific cases of abuse and brutality from her past, and narrates her path toward an understanding of her own situation with a disarming combination of humility and kindness that, in every case, thoroughly explained her perspective without dictating that others should automatically adopt it.

If I had to try to pin down No You Don't to a certain genre or format, I would say that it is a book of skeptical essays that does not shrink from the task of reviewing lived experience and empirical evidence and contrasting it sharply against armchair theories and public perceptions. It is not only that, though. It is also a primer on patience and understanding, and a thoroughly enjoyable lesson about the importance of knowing oneself instead of defining oneself by the expectations of others.

I come from a family that has a multi-generational history of neurodivergence. In one way or another, most of us have been touched by learning and developmental disabilities, neurological problems, and/or mental illness, and in Ms. Jones's essays I found not only echoes of myself, but of my mother, my sister, and my grandfather. It is a terribly important book, not just for people who are attempting to understand autism, but also for people who are feeling lost or alone due to any hidden disability, mental illness, or recent trauma. It is a book about hope that is not afraid to confront the darkness and name the shadows, and an object lesson in a market clogged with abstract morality tales.

I can not recommend it strongly enough.

Incredible

If you are the parent of an autistic child, someone who works with autistic people, or an autistic person yourself, you absolutely must read this. This is the only thing I have ever read that even comes close to helping me understand an experience of autism. I have come to realize from reading this how I could have been (I'm not 100% sure) complicit in ostracizing my autistic classmates and community members. I have a sensory processing disorder and am socially awkward, but I am not autistic, so the perspective in this book was incredibly enlightening. I have come to understand now that in asserting my boundaries with an autistic person, I cannot be so aggressive; I also cannot assume that "common sense" means that everyone is on the same page as me.

I've recommended this book to every autistic person and anyone affiliated with them in my life. I recommend it to you, too. It is so important.

Book 3 of the Boss's son series continues to follow the relationship between Britt and Jack as they start to plan for their future, everything seems to be falling into place for the couple until a tragedy strikes and almost breaks them apart. It will be interesting to read the next book to see what happens next.

It would be great for an MBA class but not someone who wanted to start their own business. The 1995 version of this book, also sold on Amazon, is fantastic for entrepreneurs. It has over 700 pages of information, worksheets and examples. Do yourself a favor, buy the older version.

Helpful resource but not a guidebook

New Venture Creation is insightful, well-crafted, and content-rich. It's no surprise that MBAs swear by this hugely popular business school classic.
However, as a serial entrepreneur, I have mixed feelings about the actual utility of Timmon's textbook. On one hand, it presents a fairly accurate description of the entrepreneurial process. Timmon's commentary covers: recognizing an opportunity... to sizing the market... to securing risk capital... to ultimately harvesting the venture. Timmon's also addresses the critical risks and challenges that entrepreneurs face along the way.
So to be clear, New Venture Creation is definitely more useful than all those "How to Write a Business Plan" books.
On the other hand, none of Timmon's text was particularly meaningful to me until I had started my _second_ venture. Put another way, New Venture Creation (by itself) is not instructional. It lacks sufficient case study, testimonial, and all those great "war stories."
Therefore, New Venture Creation is a helpful resource but not a practical guidebook.

a Harvard Business School style textbook on entrepreneurship

Here is what a leading business school teaches on entrepreneurship. Overall, the book is very well balanced in its coverage of principles and analysis of real world cases. With its size (800 pages of letter size), it contains information (such as sample term sheet, agreements, RMA statement studies) which are hard to find in other books. It is obvious that it couldn't be written without many years of teaching, research and practice.

About the Author
Dr. Anthony C. Hackney is a Professor of Exercise Physiology & Nutrition at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. His research group studies how stress affects the hormonal responses of the endocrine system. In particular his focus is upon the dysfunctions and dysregulations that develop from stress exposures which can ultimately compromise physiological responses and adaptations. Dr. Hackney is an editor and author of the successful book Endocrinology of Physical Activity and Sport and has published over 200 peer-reviewed research papers and book chapters, given over 150 national and international scientific conference presentations, and has had current and previous research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, USAID, and the National Academy of Sciences. He is an Editorial Board member for five exercise science, sports medicine, and physiology journals; has done visiting professorships in Uruguay, Kosovo, Norway, New Zealand, Germany, and Estonia; and is on the Board of Directors of the Center for the Study of Retired Athletes, UNC-CH. A recipient of three Fulbright Scholar awards, he was named Fellow, American Academy of Kinesiology (2010), Montoye Research Scholar, the American College of Sports Medicine (2015), Fellow, Huffines Institute for Sports Medicine (2015), and Kean-Pogue Senior Research Scholar, University of North Carolina (2016), among other honors and awards.

Very Good Intro Book to the Garments Business

I first reviewed it over Kindle Unlimited yest afternoon. Less than a day after, I gifted my son who has just started a garment business in the Philippines' Garments Capital in the province of Rizal with it. Very good book for both starters and budding experts in the business. Well-balanced depth and breadth. Thanks for offering it in Kindle version. It is tens of times cheaper than other books of similar topic coverage yet covers a lot of learnings on the trade.

he's talking about the social anxieties like "I'm afraid I'm unlovable

John Jones is a true gem. He has created a simple process for clearing fears and other negative emotions. It is not only effective and efficient, it will put you into a state of clarity and elevated consciousness. Jones offers long lists of possible fears you may want to release - a truly comprehensive encyclopedia of things that cause us to hold back, collapse, or run away. Not spiders and snakes -- no, he's talking about the social anxieties like "I'm afraid I'm unlovable," and "I'm afraid of speaking my truth." You will be a different person after you've gone through this process. Highly recommended for anyone who has fear standing in the way of creating your unique and beautiful life.

a MUST read!

I am so very excited that John Jones has put his gifts and expertise to print! This book is a true "workbook for humanity" illustrating how each one of us can learn from our fears, then QUICKLY and EFFECTIVELY release them. This is a MUST read for anyone who has ever felt disempowered in anyway for any reason. John succinctly provides a "how to get my self back" approach to any kind of haunting and relentless pattern of feeling afraid, frustrated, upset or anxious. These emotions, although common, do not have to feel like a life sentence of imprisonment! John clearly explains why these emotions occur and then how to dissolve them. It works! I have personally experienced GREAT results!.. Thank you and God Bless you John Jones!

Life Changing Book! John Jones has a gifted ability to explain and facilitate the process of removing fear as well as the limitations fear imposes upon so many aspects of one’s life. Having used the techniques for the past few months, I have made significant strides in overcoming limiting fears and beliefs that had prevented me from taking action in my life. Like any meaningful self-help tool, the results only come if one puts in the required work.. In addition to his book, I’d recommend one-on-one sessions with John. The past 4 years working with John have been the most transformative of my life.
