Excellent Undergraduate Textbook for computer hardware

An excellent book, very complete and very detailed. Mostly well written and clear. It explains MC68K and Power PC archtiectures. It is very indepth when it comes to microprogramming. A good overview of Assembly concepts. You will learn about microprocessors inside out, including Intel Pentium family with superscalar features and the importance of pipelining and compiler optimization. A great reference for profesionals, a superb guide for undergrads.

Excellent undergraduate text

This was the assigned text for my junior year computer engineering course on computer organization. I loved it. The explanations are clear, progress logically, and are clearly presented. I find myself picking it up from time to time, both to read the more advanced chapters out of personal interest and to look up details needed in more advanced coursework.

Lucid and Timeless

A clearly written book, which employs a simple language. Another beauty of the book is that all loose ends are tied up. As sentences unfold one will realize why a particular phrase was used earlier and so on. That makes a big difference for an engineering text book.

It is the best book that I know for fundamentals. Hence, it will be useful for years to come.

Must have for all embedded systems people.

This book provides plenty of great ideas!

The book highlights two major Scrum problem areas:
- Productivity: Many teams that transition to Scrum see productivity plateau, with projects still slow to complete. Though an improvement over the past, the gains can be far less than expected.
- Predictability: With no standard around how long stories or iterations of a given size should take to complete (whether across teams or even within a single team), predictions are a crap shoot. If everyone agrees on a firm deadline, they will often meet it. Otherwise, however, things just get done when they get done.

Presenting how he has layered Kanban Method alongside Scrum, the author shows how to help organizations achieve the following purposes:
- Introducing and adopting Scrum as a software development methodology
- Evolving from Scrum to a unique set of processes and practices
- Overcoming common challenges with scaling Scrum across an Enterprise

Scrumban: A peaceful, nondestructive path to agility

Very few large, pre-1995 companies can do Scrum quickly, easily, or cheaply. Brute force attempts to implement Scrum at these companies often fail. The companies end up with a grab bag of practices that is not Scrum and is not supported by any theory or practice. The people at these companies are traumatized and harmed by never-ending conflicts among software development, business, and the agile transition.

Ajay Reddy offers an alternative path to agility. Scrumban provides companies with the tools to deeply understand cause-and-effect relationships and improve the system of work over time. Scrumban is not prescriptive and the practices that companies and people choose to adopt are specific to the context.

The book is an enjoyable read. It is chockablock with examples from companies who have achieved significant business benefits from implementing Scrumban. I expect that just about everyone will benefit from reading this book, from those new to agile to advanced practitioners.

At age seven I was adopted by my step dad; at age eight I was put to work by my step dad; at age 17 I dropped out of school; at age 21 I was in prison; at 23 divorced; at 24 I filed for bankruptcy; at 27 I was in federal prison again; at 28 I was divorced a second time; and at 35 divorced a third time.

And that's just the 50,000-foot view. This book will explain it all and how it was all part of a plan from the universe to push me out of my comfort zone and into the hands of everyday winners like you. I wrote this book to show those who are oppressed with their past that it doesn't matter if you can develop skills.

The timelines may not be exact, so just go with the flow and enjoy the story. It's about the big picture, not a timeline of when shit went down. Look at each chapter as its own individual story. When it happened is not really as important as the fact that it did happen.

Join me, as I share my journey and all of the ups and downs it took me on, with you. Oh, and for protection purposes the names of people have been changed.

Also, if you're a cop or government entity, this is all entirely fiction so chill.

ABSOLUTELY MUST READ!!!!

To read where Ryan started and everything he went through to end up where he is now is the true example of what NEVER giving up means!! Ryan Stewman story is so inspirational and being a entrepreneur myself this book very close to home. I have sold drugs to get by and pay the bills and also been homeless In the past with no drivers license and felt depressed, down, & sorry for myself. I can testify first hand, that I stumbled across Ryan on fb and then started listening to his podcast everyday. The day he told his story on Warrior talk radio brought tears to my eyes. Here is this guy who has been through more then me telling his story and look where he is now! If he can do it, so can I and so can anyone else if you want it bad enough. I suggest this book to anyone! If you want to change someone's life, give them this book. Thank you Ryan for sharing your story with all of us!

My heart went out to this young man. His story is unique in that he tries so very hard to get out of the criminal loop, yet somehow keeps getting looped back into it. He is obviously smart and resourceful however life just kept dealing him rotten cards. He has integrity, honesty, bluntness and realness that is so lacking in many people in todays society. Yes he was a criminal, yet his inner strength and sheer tenacity are a great story to read.

W. J. Rorabaugh is Professor of History at the University of Washington, Seattle. His numerous books include The Alcoholic Republic: An American Tradition; Berkeley at War: The 1960s; Kennedy and the Promise of the Sixties (Cambridge University Press, 2002); and The Real Making of the President: Kennedy, Nixon, and the 1960 Election. Rorabaugh received his AB from Stanford University and his PhD from the University of California, Berkeley.

Fun, sweet, uplifting

Every once in a while a frog really does turn out to be a prince. The Cinderella Princess made a believer out of me. I was all ready to not like Prince Lucas Alexander Leopold Casimir von Rexburg since royalty and billionaires who feel entitled (yes, I know that they are popular right now) are not my favorite type of male main characters. However, in Melissa McClone’s capable hands, he truly did become princely. If he had owned a cowboy hat he would have been perfect! Nick is pretty perfect, too. Dylan is definitely a real frog.

Needless to say, but I will anyway - I love this novella. Short enough to read in an evening, it is a traditional sweet romance with a few interesting twists that cause anguish for the character before the happily ever after. Included are several female characters, Emily, Addie and Maria-Therese. I would want as friends. Caring, hardworking, honest and loyal, they are more alike than different no matter their social position. It’s a fun uplifting read.

The Cinderella Princess

This was a really cute, sweet, quick read. Would I have purchased it to read based on the synopsis? Yes, I would have.

This was a shorter book and there wasn't a whole lot to the story. Don't get me wrong, you have the back story for the main characters and a little bit for the supporting characters, but there's not much drama in this book and that's probably why it didn't catch my attention too well.

But then again, the break from all the drama filled books is kind of nice. That being said, this was a sweet story. You have the bad boy who's given an ultimatum and the good girl throwing herself into her work. There's no time for anything else and no time to seek out the things that are worth it. They just exist. Until one day...

I guess I was waiting for the big shebang or that "oh-hell-here-we-go" moment that is in most books lately. It never came, and I'm ok with that. not every book has to have those moments.

I did feel like there wasn't much info on the dates from either Emily or Luc's POV to really get what was going on. I think if we were in their heads and saw more and heard more thoughts during those times, this would have been a lot better and I could understand why the feelings between the two were as deep as what they were so quickly. And again, sometimes there is no explanation for it. It just is.

This was the first book written by Melissa McClone that I have read and I will continue to read her work. Just because it's not like the rest, doesn't mean it isn't worth reading. In fact, it's why I will look for more of her stuff!

Quick read

Modern day fairytale story, where the prince is looking for his forever match via reality television.
The story is fun and entertaining. For the first time, someone, that being Emily, is giving it straight to Luc. No finesse, not what he would expect to hear, but the simple truth of the matter. The sparks are flying, the banter is constant, and as Emily and Luc get to know each other, while looking for a wife for him, Emily finds out that there's so much more into this prince than tabloids are saying. And maybe what they are saying are not true at all.
While predictable, this story is pleasant and enjoyable. It is a clean, lively, and witty romance, a look behind of making of the reality television, and the awkward situations with dysfunctional families. Perfect, quick read for the Easter holidays for the romance lovers
